Blog Follow-Up: Be sure to post a
reflection on the lessons learned from developing your Professional Development
Plan to your blog, and read and comment on at least two other students’ PDP
reflections.
REFLECTION:
It was a challenge to think in terms of a three year professional development plan. Next year, I will be taking on a new job, the one of Area Superintendent. I plan on learning all I can about secondary schools and the high school allotment I will be directing. I also have been asked to share intervention and inclusion through co-teaching with all the principals. In addition, I am starting my doctoral work in July. Life is about to get even more busy!

Reminder - Scheduling a
Conference with the District Site Supervisor to review the SISE
Please
schedule a conference with your District Site Supervisor before the end of Week
5 to review the Supervisor’s SISE (Superintendent/Supervisor Internship
Summative Evaluation). Following the conference, please do the following:
Post
your reflection on lessons learned from the SISE Conference and comment on at
least two other students’ reflections on their SISE.
On
April 27th, I met with my supervisor, Superintendent Bob Morrision.
We reviewed my SISE. I had sent
the form to him ahead of time. Upon review, he scored me at the highest level
in each category and complimented me on my ability to communicate my vision to
others. He and I talked about the dramatic change that had taken place on my
campus in just one year. We were able to improve the climate and culture of the
school and reduce discipline referrals by 80%. We also implemented a new common
intervention time and inclusion through co-teaching model for instruction.
These initiatives have been so successful that we have hosted over 300 visitors
from the district and region and become the model for inclusive instruction in
the district. I was recently appointed as the Area Superintendent for next year
and will be working with the vertical team in area 2, as well as all elementary
schools. I have a lot left to learn. I have a lot to learn about secondary
schools, master schedules and testing at that level, and administration of the
high school allotment budget. I am sad to leave the campus level but looking
forward to learning a lot and making a difference on an even larger scale.
